Your account & privacy

You sign in with your ChatGPT account. We store an account ID used only for this site, your email address, and your choice about receiving emails. We also store your comments and your alias, if you choose one.

Readers can see your comments and alias. If you do not choose an alias, they will see your account name. We show you that name before you decide to use it. If your account does not give us a name we can show, we ask you to choose an alias. Your email address stays private.

If you change your alias, your next comments will use the new name. Earlier comments keep the name they had.

We are not sending stories by email yet. If you choose to receive them, we save that choice for when we start sending them. To cancel that choice, return to the form on the homepage. Clear the email checkbox and save your choice.

We remember the language you choose with a cookie: a piece of information your browser saves. It lasts up to one year. You can change your language anytime with the English / Español buttons at the top.

Community guidelines

Discuss ideas with curiosity and respect. No harassment, spam, threats, or sharing other people’s personal information. Comments are published when you send them. The person who runs this site may remove comments that break these rules.

Our stories

We write our own summaries and link to primary sources: information from the people or groups involved in the events. Our opinions are labeled “Our take”. Source dates and archive labels help show which events and achievements are from the past and which are current news.

To ask us to delete your account information or comments, tell us which account you use and send the story links. Before making changes, we may ask you to show that the account is yours. Please do not send sensitive personal details, such as passwords or ID numbers.
